E-Mail
How many mailboxes can I have?
Several mailboxes are included free with
each account, depending on the particular account you subscribe to. You can have any number
of mailboxes for a small additional monthly fee.
I
can't send e-mail any more, what happened?
Sometimes, this is because of an anti-spam measure imposed by your internet
service provider that prevents you from using mail servers other than
theirs. The usual symptom is that every e-mail you send is rejected and the
error message refers to "cannot relay". Our recommended configuration will
prevent this problem. Follow the instructions
here.
I'm
getting messages about my mailbox being "over quota".
When you delete e-mails in the web email, they are moved to a folder
called "Deleted Items", where they use up your mailbox quota. Log in to
webmail (click here)
click Folders, Deleted Items, and then delete all the messages. To stop it
from happening again, click on Options and check
"Clear deleted items on Log Out".
How do I set up Forwarding?
Forwarding is when each email
is sent ('forwarded') to a different mailbox. The account owner
should follow the instructions here,
while end-users can log in to Mail Enable,
click Options, then Mailbox Redirection.
How do I set up an Autoresponder?
An autoresponder mailbox sends back a message
automatically when e-mail is received. The account owner should
follow the instructions here, while end-users
can log in to Mail Enable, click Options,
then Auto Response. Note that you can't test this by emailing yourself, you
must send email from another account.
How do I create a "catchall"
mailbox?
The "catchall" mailbox is special. A mailbox named "catchall@example.com"
will receive all mail that does not match any other mailbox in your
domain. This is a great way to collect spam. LOTS of it.
How can I change my email password?
The account owner should follow the
instructions here, while end-users can
log in to Mail Enable, click Options,
then Login.
Web E-mail
How do
I read my e-mail on the web?
Follow this link: http://www.cartama.net/mail . Click
on the MailEnable icon. Enter your e-mail address
(or username for a few pre-2003 accounts) in the first box, your e-mail password in the second box, and click "Log
On".
Why
does my e-mail have the wrong from address?
If your mailbox was created before 2003, when you send e-mail via the web interface, the "From" address will show @cartama.net instead of
your domain. This problem is a side-effect of upgrading from the old
Exchange server. We can make a change on our servers that will fix this problem, but
you will also have to change your e-mail configuration. Please
contact us to make this change
How
can I automatically send a response to people who email me while I am on
vacation?
Refer to the Autoresponder section above.
